Clean Air Division supplies one third of all catalysts fitted to cars around the world and is a leading producer of catalysts for trucks and buses too. We use our scientific know-how to create innovative products that play a crucial part in reducing harmful emissions and improving air quality, helping our customers meet legislative requirements globally.
We are now seeking a pro-active Waste Management Lead to join our EHS team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing waste management activities of the plant, therefore the ability to organize the waste management process and activities, on a wide range of plant is required. Having previous experience in chemical process industry would be an advantage.
Key responsibilities:
- Advising Johnson Matthey on compliance and keeping up to date with legal and Johnson Matthey standards associated with Environmental Legislative, with accent on Waste Management
- Contributing to policy development related to waste and chemicals
- Delivering EHS training programmes such as Waste Management, Sustainability programmes
- Cooperate with management to develop sustainable Waste Management process
- Assess the work environment for potential Environmental issues and submit the reports for non-conformities
- Conduct a range of risk assessments and perform regular inspections of the workplace
- Contributing to incident investigation reports
- Travel when necessary to attend relevant meetings, seminars or training
- Monitoring waste movement on site including removal and undertaking local statutory requirements in terms of documentation
- Manage waste and continuously work to initiate and conduct programs which minimise waste
- Control and manage equipment, services and documentation related to waste management
Are you the ideal candidate?
- Degree in Environmental studies, Chemistry, Technology, Chemical Engineering
- Demonstration of competence in Waste Management and state Waste Manager certificate
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to perform in an intense, fast paced and complex working environment
- Demonstrable strong health & safety awareness
- Competent user of Microsoft office software
- Demonstrable problem solving and strong analytical review skills
- Planning and organising skills
- Initiatives for improvement
- Fluency in English written and spoken
Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:30h till 16:30h
