Chief Accountant

Chief Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial activities of the organization including: Controlling its financial resources and ensuring that all financial transactions, systems and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards, Financial analysis and reporting, taxation, insurance, credit control, accounts payable and receivable, inventory and costs control, and budgeting and forecasting, Analyzing the organization's revenues, liabilities, credit conditions, and other financial indicators to forecast it's short, medium, and long-term cash flow position, Evaluating and recommending investments and other financial instruments to meet cash flow needs, Advising management on financial matters and the impact of laws and regulations on the organization, Providing expertise and advice to managers to help them develop budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities, presenting findings and recommendations to top executives; preparing financial reports that may include auditor and financial analyst reports, profit and loss, balance sheets, and regulatory reports and filings, Ensuring all tax returns, declarations, and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time, Selecting and managing relationships with consultants and advisors to ensure the satisfactory standards of service.

Position responsibilities and duties:

  • Working with other members of the accounting department to compile, analyze, and report financial data;
  • Making journal or ledger entries;
  • Preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly financial reports and budgets;
  • Tax preparation, assisting with audits, and identifying and resolving discrepancies;
  • Act as a point of contact between internal departments and accounting, serving as a liaison between accounting and external parties, including clients, suppliers, and lenders;
  • Using bookkeeping software and entering information into company files or databases, ensuring that all financial records are complete and accurate;
  • Ensuring that company bills are paid and debts are collected;
  • Implementing and enforcing financial and inventory controls;
  • Staying current on company, local, state, and financial regulations and policies. 

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in bookkeeping, management, or relevant field;
  • CPA certification may receive preference;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and math skills;
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially bookkeeping software;
  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially when multitasking;
  • Personal skills and competences: Accurate, Honest, Independent, Organized, Responsible, Written and verbal communication, Time management (organization);
  • Technical skills and competences: Writing procedures, Knowledge transfer, Commercial awareness, Knowledge / proficiency in ERP systems would be considered an advantage.
