Director of Operations
Position Summary
Maintains all aspects of our transportation operations, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Position requires a strong background in logistics and transportation management, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of operational success.
Position Responsibility
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize trucking operations, including route planning, load scheduling, and driver management.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of operations staff and truck drivers.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, finance, and maintenance, to align operations with business objectives.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement measures to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including DOT, FMCSA, and safety regulations.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with carriers and other service providers to optimize service levels and costs.
- Analyze market trends and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the operations department.
Relationships
- The Director of Operations reports directly to Ownership.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with the operations management within the trucking industry.
- Must have demonstrated skill in recruiting, hiring, and developing personnel.
- Must be able to create and maintain a team environment focused on goal achievement.
- Must have a positive, can-do attitude and project a professional image while possessing a strong work ethic and willingness to commit to extra hours.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be Company/Team minded.
- Must be willing to travel.
