Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy & Battery Energy Storage Systems

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with expertise in solar energy (essential), wind energy (optional), hydropower (optional), biogas (optional) and battery storage systems (optional). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and renewable energy systems. You will play a key role in reviewing public documents and guiding us in our investments in North Macedonia, the Balkan region and in other countries. You will have the opportunity for designing, optimizing, and implementing solar and battery storage projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and grow in the rapidly evolving battery and other storage technologies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Desktop review of renewable energy projects and battery energy storage projects with the objective of financing, designing, engineering, procuring, constructing, operating and maintaining them.
- Provide technical support during project installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Undertake visits to project sites to monitor the project including its energy management systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies, system modelling, and performance analysis for solar and storage systems.
- Perform electrical load calculations, system sizing, and component selection to optimize system performance.
- Prepare technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and project reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solar and battery storage solutions into grid-tied and off-grid applications.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations of the country and of the European Union if applicable.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to solar and battery storage systems as and when necessary.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in solar energy and battery storage.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Master’s degree in Renewable Energy is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in solar energy or another area of renewable energy
- Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD and/or ETAP and/or PVsyst).
- Strong knowledge of power electronics, renewable energy systems, and/or energy storage technologies.
- Familiarity with battery chemistries (e.g., lithium-ion batteries) and their applications.
- Experience with grid interconnection and utility-scale projects is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Professional Engineer license or equivalent certification is a plus.
