Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance and Systems Management

We are looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to manage maintenance and operational reliability within our cannabis manufacturing facility. This role focuses on HVAC systems, water purification (PW), and overall equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal system performance, implement preventive measures, and report on maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• BMS Management:
  • Set up and monitor requested parameters in the Building Management System (BMS).
  • Report any system failures or anomalies to the Engineering Manager promptly.
• HVAC Systems:
  • Oversee the qualification, requalification, and calibration of HVAC systems.
  • Experience in calculating thermodynamic parameters
  • Keeps a daily log in which the parameters from all rooms in the factory are recorded three times within 24 hours and entered into the ERP system
  • Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions
  • Follow up on all related activities and report findings to management.
• System Maintenance:
  • Record equipment downtime and lead root cause analysis for failures, diagnosing problems effectively.
  • Collaborate with management to determine the best repair strategies for malfunctioning machines.
• Preventive Maintenance:
  • Ensure all preventive maintenance tasks for the PW system, cultivation machines, LAB and microbiology equipment, and production machinery are performed according to established maintenance plans.
  • Maintain accurate records for daily checklists and maintenance tasks.
• Calibration and Qualification:
  • Manage the calibration and qualification of equipment related to HVAC, PW, compressed air, and other production systems.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation requirements for all maintenance and calibration activities.
• Compressed Air and Technical Gases:
  • Monitor and maintain records for compressed air systems, including checking for leaks and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Oversee the management of technical gases, ensuring proper documentation of replacements and leak checks.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Propose and implement innovative maintenance approaches to reduce equipment downtime and enhance longevity.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to develop strategies for ongoing improvements in maintenance practices.
• Inventory Management:
  • Ensure that spare parts inventory aligns with operational needs, minimizing downtime and ensuring efficient repairs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in the cannabis or food sector.
• Proficiency in HVAC systems, maintenance practices, and calibration processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Prefered skills:

• Knowledge of industry regulations related to cannabis production.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and maintenance tracking software.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
